Friday 2nd July

woo hoo - it's friday - ice lolly day :D    Magnum Gold - ftw !!

Today was the day for getting the papers finished.
Obviously we didn't have a printing press, so we had to print out everything precisely on the printer.

First the newsprint came in a roll and we had to cut out A3 sized pages to fit into the printer, then recut them to the size of the intended paper.
Since the paper came in a roll, the sheets would curl and started to crinkle in the printer
-the ink at 100% would bleed through the thin paper
-it became a skill to allign all the texts exactly

So we tried a number of things.
- we tried backing the paper to help with the bleed and keep the paper flat
-taping all sides cause it needed tension.
which helped with the crinkling but not with the bleed.
So we printed out 3 papers with 4 different ink opacities. 50% 70% 80% and 100%
The 50% was too faint - looked like print left out in the sun minus age.
the 70% never bled through but still made the black block very grey looking.

So we made a whole 100% one and a 70% with 80% on the title page as it had a huge block of black.
-one paper and a standby.

Bagged and tagged for monday - off to have a good weekend :D
