True Blood - A love of the Vampyre ♥

Jeez! It looks hot in there!
True Blood :D
Am lovin what they're doing with this show.
The characters, the misty Louisiana / deep south swamp setting, the horror and dramatic face-slapping plot twists - it makes my heart race. This is proper entertainment.

who's responsible for the effects?

True Blood Weblog article - behind the scenes

Am impressed by the quality of the effects. I love excessive over-kill gore and it's done brilliantly in this show. Kinda reminds me of all the splats and ooze of John Carpenter's 'Thing', at times.
I believe that to be a huge compliment!

Jason Stackhouse is brilliant!

Ryan Kwanten is a ridiculously talented actor. I loved him as Vinny in Home and Away, in fact I probably stopped watching it not long after he left. He's got a fire in him and as a result he shines.
Someone give him a bloomin oscar!

He's plays Jason, a fit, hot-blooded young man ! Without a mother or father figure to guide, he just stumbles through his life and it's hillarious to watch. His middle name is 'disaster'   hehe :D

Deborah Ann Woll plays Jessica Hamby. Her character was made vampire, then left to work the whole being undead thing out for herself.
She was a teenage bible-loving virgin prior to her death, her lack of experience with the world is played to perfection.
She gets my best female award in the show.

Each character has layers upon layers makin them so 3D and each actor brings more than a little something to their roles..
 - I've never visited Louisina, but I want to go and get bitten by a vampire! I felt the same thing years ago when I read Anne Rice's Chronicles of Lestat. The humid, pasty, heat of the deep south has never felt so sexy as the characters weave in and out of each others lives.

'Edward is addictive, like sugar :)'

Comparing True Blood vamps to the Twilight vamps (another book turned into a screenplay) -
I inhaled the Twilight books. I was utterly addicted to them and read all four over a weekend. The whole hook in that story, for me,  was the connection to the strong emotions felt by a girl utterly in love.
The fact that her lover was a vampire of course made it all the more appealing. The mystery, the beauty and the danger.
Of course she's in love with him,  I am too!!
Edward is addictive, like sugar :)
But truthfully, I prefer my vampires a little more feral. Unable to resist the call to feed. The pulse of blood through the veins, the thrill of the chase and the fear of the victim.
Twilight was a little too lame for me, the vamps are morally bound to holding themselves back and it's always about the emotions. I prefer the rrrraaaarrRRGH!

True Blood slaps you in the face with the horror of it all;  the politics of a vampire society mixing with human, the carnage;
then, right when you think it couldn't possibly get any crazier, more face-slapping happens.
There was one episode my jaw was getting achy being cranked open so wide.

And that's what I LOVE most about the show.

True Blood vamps Versus Lestat
I think when I read Anne Rice, it became a benchmark for how vampires should be... for me.
you did a good job, Tom :D

I loved the way she wrote Lestat's character; making him incredibly intelligent and irresistably charismatic; and giving him a burning desire to discover why he existed.
I have to say, Tom Cruise did an excellent job of portraying the vampire Lestat in the movie  'Interview with the Vampire'- it was a perfect delivery, got Lestat down to a tee. My opinion was most unexpected.  I love when that occurs
On feeding (an important consideration for a vampire)
- Lestat revised his diet carefully before killing. He prayed on the people close to suicide. Those who were weak and no longer lived. Clearly had a conscience about taking a life and had the ability to make a compromise to suit his morality.
Bill Compton's char is a little similar, a vampire who thinks about right and wrong - deep thinker. He, like Lestat has a conscience about taking a life. He diets on True Blood, which seems to manage to quench 'the hunger'.
Eric Northman's character, however,  has Lestat's confidence, electric presence and preternatural seductive skills. Making him a master of the hunt. He is an alpha male.
There are a lot of similarities between both vampire creations.
My top 2 versions of the vampyre mythology.

Yeah ♥  This is how I like my vampires to be. A girls got a right to an opinion - right?
