Still Life.

I haven't really had a lot of experience painting with water colour.
Had been looking through a book of M C Eshers artwork and was delighted to look at the still life he's drawn/painted. His house must have been full of a lot of unusual objects.

Inspired by this, I felt the need to explore the world of watercolour.
I found out I needed to stretch paper (otherwise the water would bloat and wrinkle the paper) and I set about finding some interesting objects I had in my house.

Like Escher, am facinated by reflective surfaces and how glass refracts the light. The bottle image was by far the most challenging to paint, but I persevered. It's not quite right, but not bad for a first try :D

gouache paints this time - was a challenge to get a reflective metallic quality to the kettle. Am interested in how to achieve a metallic effect using non metallic colours.

The glass bottle posed a few challenges - attempting to make it look transparent.
Again - my first try.
