Smallville - The end of a decade of super drama

The suit is revealed..

After 10 successful seasons of Smallville.. trailer here.

Clark's finally got the geek glasses on and donned the blue suit.

Hell yeah, the last episode was cheesy as a cheesemongers festival in the middle of France, but I was glad the story was resolved finally and ended at the beginning of the first Superman movie.
Christopher Reeves would have been proud, I reckon.
Really was getting annoyed at the duke's of hazard guy - Jonathon Kent - who kept popping in and making cheese happen all over the place - wasn't he dead already? no need to have the same father son chats all over again just cause it's the last episode!
Was really surprised that Kristen Kruek didn't reprise her role as Lana, considering she was in it for 8 years.
I also expected there to be a group superhero fight at the end and them all cheer for the Justice League!
Is that cheesy?
J' onn J'onzz, Martian Manhunter played by Phil Morris
Where was J'onn J'onzz? expected to see him come back in time to watch Clark finally fly!
Wasn't he supposed to ensure Clark fulfilled his destiny? Well he did! and Manhunters's not there!
The final episode was all about summing up the lessons Clark learnt in order to use his powers responsibly and be savour to the Earth. With great power comes great responsibility!

The beginning of The Justice League / Season 6

Hawkman, Dr Fate and Stargirl / Season 9
The last episode was far from the best. In my opinion season 6, episode 11  'Justice', was the reason I watch smallville in the first place - the first time 5 heroes work with watchtower to defeat Lex Luthor - Clark was tagged as 'boy scout' for wishing to go alone.
Other favourite episodes would be Lana transforming into sorceress Isabella and the kick ass fight that ensues at the end of season four and the group superhero fight at the end of season 9! Seriously - having superman use his eye beams like a machine gun was epic!

Having watched the trailer linked above, it was amazing to notice how the actors have changed and grown up with their characters over the years.
I appreciated the return of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luther, played Lex Luther to a tee.
I wonder if he asked for a bald cap? :)
Loved his contribution through the Smallville years and was interested to find out he's a regular voice over artist for several comic book annimation series.

Luthor

then
now..
Watching Martha, played by Annette O'Toole, reminded that she'd played the part of Lana Lang in the 3rd Superman movie. She has aged well! She'll be 60 next year. She was 31 when she played Lana.

The show was written and filmed in a comic book style, allowing me to transcend reality and accept that people can fall from a great height and not die and leap tall buildings in a single bound.
During the action I could often imagine a comic storyboard. There was an amazing image in season 9 when Hawkman hovered outside the broken round window of watchtower. The moon was huge behind him and the only other feature in the background was the gigantic globe at the top of the Daily Planet. True comic book artistry!
I love this poster.. we all just want him to put on his suit!!

This was truly an exhilarating and epic recap of the life of one of the world most popular superhero characters.
There were episodes where people got super powers and subsequently caused havoc.. just from being in the presence of the wayward kryptonite that followed Clark to earth after Krypton exploded. Powerful rocks man! I called them meteor freak episodes as they were obvious fillers to the seasons story. There was always some link to the main story through them to keep your mouth watering.
I loved the idea that Kryptonians had been travelling to earth for a long time and may even have been responsible for the worlds wonders.
Ultimately, I watched purely because I love Superman.
And ofcourse -  can't forget the introduction of Supergirl, played by the lovely Laura Vandervoot. Finally! a flying superhero!
I am am one of those geek freaks that actually liked the Supergirl movie with Helen Slater.

So, anyways - here's to the end of an era.
...now bring out a Justice League one please!
